Happy Easter Peaches! 🐣🐰
Sadly, the deadly Coronavirus pandemic has dominated our world right now, preventing us from traveling and exploring our magical Kenya during this Easter holiday. However, we appreciate the luxury of spending quality time indoors with our families.
What would you wish you were doing right now if the world was to reset to its normal state?
Perhaps I would be exploring an island, hotel, restaurant or city right now with friends/family. This brings back one of the most beautiful memories that I experienced last year in November. My dearest highschool friends Shamsa, Fatma, Nariman and I planned to reconnect on an Island girl’s trip, at the magnificent Sardegna 2 Island with Fairdinkum Holidays Tour Company.
Please allow me to share with you this breathtaking experience.
Prior to our girls trip, we paid Kshs. 5,500/- each for the excursion. The price included full course seafood meal, snorkeling, dolphin viewing, Sardegna Island excursion and transport (return).
We were picked from our homes in Mombasa at 6:30 a.m. To our surprise, the driver was an arab Muslim woman, who introduced herself as the owner of Fardinkum Holidays.
She safely drove us for approximately one and a half hours to Watamu Town. We first stopped at the petrol station to inflate Fatma’s giant flamingo floater and headed to Watamu village for breakfast at Wasafi Swahili Dishes.
Wasafi Swahili Dishes is budget friendly and conveniently located in Watamu village where all other restaurants and shops are. We snacked on some Swahili breakfast at the terrace of Wasafi Swahili Dishes to fill our hungry tummys.
We then drove off towards Watamu Marine Park, ready to explore Sardegna 2 Island.
Sardegna 2 Island is a marine park located in the Kenyan North Coast between Watamu and Malindi with small atolls. We boarded the boat from Watamu Marine Park.
Cruised on the boat to the middle of Watamu Marine Park while enjoying the breathtaking views of the blue sea.
We snorkeled amongst beautiful marine park with schools of fish and corals, admiring stunning underwater life.
Afterwards, we cruised to Sardegna Island for a seafood barbecue on the atoll on a low tide, boasting a spectacular and evocative landscape of Sardegna Island with transparent water.
Sardegna 2 Island is a paradise in Watamu and perhaps the most beautiful Island in Watamu. Crystal clear water with pristine white sand.

What a wonderful atoll that my girls and I landed on!
The water was so transparent that we could clearly see so many starfish that accessorized the Island with their flamboyant array of colors.
Side note: Starfish shouldn’t be touched.
What was unique about this particular Island excursion in contrast to other Islands that I’ve explored in Watamu, is seafood barbecue on the Island. I am so craving that right now!!
Lunch was served on the boat of which we shared with an Italian family. Savoring an aphrodisiac seafood barbecue meal, comprising of coconut rice served with delicious octopus curry, grilled prawns, lobsters, fish and seasonal fruits, homely prepared by our friendly guides. In addition, water and sodas were served as drinks.
My girls and I spent quality time bonding, catching up on lost time chilling in the shallow water while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of Sardegna 2 Island.
Fatma’s ride-on giant flamingo swimming floater spiced some fun as we had a good laugh trying to balance on it.
We had a meditation session floating on the clear water while basking in the sun, getting a good amount of vitamin D. It was such a therapeutic experience!
Most importantly, it was special because it was with friends who’ve become family. No trip slaps good like an island girls trip with friends you can call home ❤️
It’s moments like these that remind me of how blessed I am for having shared great moments with amazing friends. Something to reminisce about.
Let’s share positive thoughts, be hopeful of the future as we pray to see the light at the end of the tunnel as soon as possible.
Thanks for reading this special memory Peaches and I hope you enjoyed it. Bucket list it. 😉
Wishing you all a great Easter with your family. Stay positive minded, follow the right precautions and stay safe! We still need to explore more places together!
